We visited a long time ago, but it was a wonderful experience. Fabio and his family were warm, fun and one of our most memorable trips. The property itself has been in Fabio‘s family forever and it is four floors of delightful bedrooms. Each is decorated in its own style and were always comfortable. Fabio greeted us with a delightful welcome dinner, all homemade by he and Lorella.

It’s a short walk down to the train station, which can take you to Pisa and Rome.

Highly recommended.

Villa Catola has been one of the best experiences I have ever had on holiday. |There were 9 of us on a family get together. The villa had ample room for us, some rooms we just didn't even step into! The villa is huge! There is a brilliant pool area, a million dollar lookout platform which we sat in every night while drinking negronis and wine! The view was outstanding.||Fabio, the gentleman who runs the establishment, was a dead set legend. Fabio was so good that he set the bar so high that we feel it is almost necessary to have this as your last leg of a holiday otherwise you'll be disappointed with other places!! |Every night Fabio and his boys cooked traditional food for us ( 3 course meals ) and supplied us with jugs of wine from his brother in laws Vineyard. |Fabio suggested us with places to go to see the beat of Bucine, we did a pizza cooking class one night, and he went out of his way to make sure that we were looked after. |The villa is a ten min walk from the train station, which has trains to Florence regularly. ||I'd recommend hiring a car as it gives the freedom to check out all the cool places in the area. ||All 9 of us had the best time here at the villa and will certainly be coming back!

If you want to get away from it all, but still have the ability to easily get to some interesting cities, Villa Catola is the place to do it! We stayed for a week with friends who had rented the villa for two weeks, with other family and friends coming and going during that time. We couldn't have been more pleased. The villa itself is so charming and the gardens surrounding it are just beautiful. I loved the fact that I could just walk outside and pick fresh lemons for drinks or to make salad dressing! While we were there we took the train to Florence for the day, and drove on different days to Sienna and Lucca. The villa is within walking distance of the grocery store, several restaurants, the pharmacy and, of course, a number of places to get a cappuccino and a pastry.||||Something fun to do is just walk around the villa and look at the many family mementos and photos. ||Make sure you look at the baby photos on the desk in the living room - you will know immediately who it is! Our first day there, Fabio, the owner of the property, came by and said we should go on a little adventure - off we went to an old tower, climbed to the top and had a spectacular view of the Arno Valley and several of the hill towns located there. Then we were off to his father-in-law's house/farm/vineyard where one of the young couples with us bottled a couple of bottles of their wine - you never know where you might end up. And speaking of Fabio, he is the quintessential Italian host - totally charming and he couldn't do enough for us. We were sorry to say "Ciao", but we will keep the wonderful memories always.

If I had to turn 50 this year, spending the week at Villa Catola with a group of special friends made the milestone birthday palatable! From the reservation process, to scheduling a cooking class and planning a celebration feast at Villa Catola, Fabio went out of his way to ensure the time with my friends who traveled far to mark this occasion was memorable and stress-free. The lacation lends itself to whatever type of holiday you have in mind. Want to take in as much of Tuscany as possible? No problem! We rented a van and easily visited multiple locations, including Sienna and Montepulciano and the train whisked us all to Firenze (just be aware, the train schedule is 'subject to change'!) When the group did go separate ways, Fabio gladly drove those at the Villa. The Coop (supermarket) is within easy walking distance, and there is a place for coffee at the bottom of the hill. The Villa is so spacious! We were a group of 12 and there were some common rooms we never even used! The views were breathtaking, but I'm sure many places in Italy can boast that. The secret to Villa Catola is the host, Fabio. Always gracious, always accommodating, and always smiling! ||I'm already planning a trip back to Bucine next year! Turning 50 wasn't so bad!

Villa Catola was a wonderful surprise. A delightful building full of the atmosphere that comes from living in a house that's been part of one family for three generations. The standard of accommodation is very good and very well set up for groups to be self catering, using the exquisite dining room and kitchen.||The situation is marvellous. Absolutely central within Bucine ( which is about an hour out Florence by train), but with a view to die for over the whole valley that Bucine sits atop.||But the cap-off is the host, Fabio. He really is the most amazing host. Nothing is too much trouble and he's keen to proudly show you his territory and his family's history on the site.||Absolutely the highlight so far of our 2 months in Europe.
